Abstract

This paper emphasizes mathematics as a foundational discipline that extends beyond computation to the development of problem-solving and critical thinking skills. It highlights how structured reasoning, metacognition, and engagement with non-routine problems enable learners to analyze, evaluate, and construct logical solutions. Drawing on existing studies, the discussion shows that consistent exposure to problem-solving tasks in mathematics strengthens analytical thinking, fosters independence, and enhances students’ ability to apply knowledge in real-life situations. Ultimately, mathematics is presented as a transformative tool for intellectual development and decision-making.
