This paper critically examines the widespread use of passive learning in Filipino classrooms and its long-term consequences on student engagement, creativity, and critical thinking. Rooted in lecture-based instruction, the dominant educational approach often prioritizes control and convenience over meaningful learning, particularly in overcrowded and under-resourced schools. While passive methods may seem efficient, they inadvertently marginalize diverse learners, suppress curiosity, and discourage active participation. Drawing on recent studies and classroom realities, the paper reveals how such practices undermine student confidence and intellectual growth, especially for kinesthetic and inquiry-driven learners. It advocates for a shift toward active learning strategies—such as group discussions, project-based tasks, and experiential activities—supported by appropriate teacher training and systemic reform. Ultimately, the study calls for an educational culture that values student voice, interaction, and exploration, urging educators and institutions to move beyond silence as a measure of success and foster classrooms that prepare students to think, lead, and solve real-world problems.
