Abstract

This paper explores the critical role of community education in promoting peace and order at the grassroots level in the Philippines. It argues that effective public safety cannot rely solely on police presence but must involve informed and empowered citizens. Drawing from real-life observations and national data, the study emphasizes the importance of barangay-level initiatives in educating constituents—families, youth, and senior citizens—about local laws, conflict resolution, and responsible citizenship. Programs such as seminars, workshops, and collaborative efforts with schools, youth councils, civic groups, and local government units are presented as practical approaches to strengthening partnerships between residents and peacekeeping institutions. Recent statistics from the DILG and the Philippine National Police demonstrate that crime reduction is achievable when communities actively participate in safety efforts. Ultimately, the paper calls for sustained and inclusive peace education that fosters trust, empowerment, and shared responsibility, thereby transforming every barangay into a proactive agent of peace and unity.
