Abstract

This essay explores the evolving role and enduring relevance of libraries in community development amid rapid digitalization. Drawing on international and Philippine case studies, it highlights how libraries serve as vital access points for education, equity, and social empowerment beyond mere book lending. Despite challenges from digital competition and funding limitations, localized and inclusive library initiatives demonstrate significant community impact, proving libraries to be indispensable hubs of knowledge, agency, and belonging in underserved areas.
